If this sounds familiar

You might be feeling like this

  • You look at the pictures of glowing expecting mothers and new moms and feel like you do not fit that mold.
  • You have already thought about how fast you could clear your search history after looking up maternal mental health.
  • You feel incredibly alone in this stage and wonder if you will ever feel like yourself again.
  • Your child is one, or three, or eight, and things have not been the same since.

The approach

What perinatal mental health care is

The perinatal period runs from conception to a year after birth, and the mood and anxiety conditions that come with it are the leading complication of childbirth. They are also the most overlooked. Every one of the thoughts above is valid, and there is help for it.

Parenting is a huge transition and it is not one size fits all. It is a different experience for moms and dads, and it can be hard for both. I prioritized training in perinatal mental health because offering this kind of specialized care locally matters to me. I am also a mother. I know the value of hearing that how you are reacting is human, especially when you feel you are not living up to the image society set for you.

If your child arrived a year ago, three years ago, or eight years ago and your mood and behavior have not been the same since, please reach out. You deserve care that understands what you are carrying.

What to expect

What perinatal care looks like at Revival

  1. Support built for this stage

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to see how your thoughts, feelings and actions connect, mindfulness and relaxation skills for the hard moments, and a safe place to say the not-so-glamorous parts out loud.

  2. Education and your support network

Understanding your own condition eases the guilt and the shame. We build in real self-care, time for the things that are yours, and communication, boundaries and assertiveness with partners and family.

  3. Check-ins when it counts

The first weeks home can be overwhelming. When we start prenatally, I plan two or three check-ins in the first six weeks after the baby arrives so you are not doing it alone.

Who I work with

This is for you if

  • Pregnant and postpartum parents
  • Dads and partners
  • Parents years out who never got back to themselves
  • Birth trauma, with EMDR or CPT
  • Intrusive thoughts and anxiety after a baby
  • Adults anywhere in Ohio by telehealth

Questions people ask

Before you call

Is this only for moms?
No. Perinatal mood and anxiety conditions affect dads and partners too, and the transition is real for both. I work with anyone in the parenting role.
Can I start before the baby comes?
Yes, and it helps. When we are already working together prenatally, I build in check-ins during those first six weeks home, when support matters most.
What if it has been years?
Then it has been years of carrying it. If your mood, your anxiety or your sense of yourself changed after a birth and never came back, that is exactly what this care is for.
