If this sounds familiar

You might be feeling like this

  • Emotions feel too big to manage, or you feel nothing at all.
  • You stay busy so you never have to sit still with it.
  • Relationships feel strained, and part of you is braced for the person you trust to leave.
  • You are ready to move forward and tired of feeling held back by what happened.

The approach

What trauma does, and what therapy does about it

Trauma can profoundly affect your life. It shapes how you think, how you feel, and how you connect with the people around you. Many survivors carry it as anxiety, depression, isolation, numbing, or a constant low hum of being on guard.

My priority is a safe, supportive place where you can begin working through it. Your treatment is built around your goals and your history, not a script. I hold a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional certification and I am trained in the two treatments with the strongest evidence for PTSD: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

I have used both with Veterans who had deployed to a warzone or experienced military sexual trauma, and since then with first responders, medical professionals, abuse survivors, and parents living with the aftermath of a traumatic birth.

What to expect

What the work looks like

  1. A safe place to say it

You share as much or as little as you are ready to. Nothing you say gets judged, and you set the pace.

  2. Processing, not just talking

EMDR and CPT help your brain file the experience so it stops running the present. Which one we use depends on you, and we decide it together.

  3. Skills that hold on a hard day

Coping skills for the anxiety, the numbing and the disconnection, communication skills for the relationships that matter to you, and space to rediscover who you are apart from what happened.

This is for you if

  • Adults 18 and up, anywhere in Ohio by telehealth

Questions people ask

Before you call

Do I have to describe what happened in detail?
No. EMDR does not require a detailed retelling, and CPT works with the beliefs the trauma left behind rather than the story itself. You decide what you share and when.
How long does trauma therapy take?
It depends on your history and your goals. A single-incident trauma can move quickly. A long history takes longer. We review progress together and you always know where we are headed.
Does insurance cover this?
I am a private-pay practice. Most plans include out-of-network benefits, and I give you a monthly superbill to submit. You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of costs at any time.
